Pool Glass & Fence

Pool area with frameless glass fencing

Your home has frameless glass in two pool-related applications.

A. Pool Fence (Frameless 12 mm Toughened Glass, 1200 mm high)

Section titled “A. Pool Fence (Frameless 12 mm Toughened Glass, 1200 mm high)”

⚠️ CAUTION — Pool fence compliance is a legal requirement in South Australia

Non-compliant fencing can result in fines and creates a serious safety risk. Test the self-closer every month.

  • Inspect hinges, latches, and self-closers monthly. The gate must self-close and latch from any position.
  • Clean glass panels with an ammonia-free glass cleaner and a soft microfibre cloth. Streak-free finish is best achieved with a squeegee.
  • Do not use razor blades, scouring pads, or abrasive cleaners — these will scratch toughened glass.
  • For stubborn marks or hard-water spotting, use a 50/50 white vinegar and water solution. Do not leave on the surface more than 2 minutes.
  • Do not hang towels, pool toys, or any objects on the pool fence.
  • A CPR sign must be displayed within the pool area at all times — this is a legal requirement.

B. Pool Tiles — Glass Mosaic (The Pool Tile Company, codes CMC114 + CMC115)

Section titled “B. Pool Tiles — Glass Mosaic (The Pool Tile Company, codes CMC114 + CMC115)”

Grout is Ardex EG 15 Easy Clean Epoxy (Misty Grey 641).

  • Maintain proper pool water chemistry (pH 7.2–7.6, sanitiser per pool builder’s spec) to prevent calcium build-up and grout deterioration.
  • Brush the waterline weekly using a soft pool brush to prevent algae and calcium build-up.
  • Do not use acid wash on pool tiles unless recommended by a pool professional. Acid can damage glass mosaic finish and epoxy grout.
  • Check tiles annually for any loose or cracked units. Tony Romeo is your first call.

Two compliance documents are in your handover pack:

  • Pool Fence Compliance Certificate (legal compliance to AS 1926)
  • Pool Barrier Inspection Report (inspection record)

Both must be retained for life of the pool. They will be required for any future property sale.
